Barcode first opened in November, 2001 by Marcus Miller. The corporation Barcode operates under was named Matthew Enterprises in homage to Matthew Shepard.

Barcode has been host to a significant number of LGBT based events such as Lesbian nights, Bear nights, Leather nights, and Pride parties. 

 

 Through current ownership of Brian Harris, Barcode maintains its reputation as one of RVA's longest standing gay owned and operated businesses.

 

Barcode continues to be a nightlife destination for Richmond's LGBT community for great food, good music, friendly staff, and a fun atmosphere. Join your friends, meet some new ones, or just relax and enjoy.
